1: Welfare
At Darul Uloom London the welfare of the students is paramount. In the Residential department there is a contrast between achieving a warm, homely, nurturing environment. Children and young people are part of our community, entrusted upon us by Allah.
It is therefore our duty, our responsibility and our privilege to nurture them in learning moral values in obedience to Allah.
- As staff and leaders of this school, we commit ourselves to the nurturing, protection and safekeeping of all students in our care.
- It is the responsibility of each one of us to prevent the physical, sexual or emotional abuse of our students and report any discovered abuse, in order to ensure that the young person and his family are given the necessary support to prevent future incidents.
- We acknowledge our responsibility to care for and support our staff and volunteers in dealing with this sensitive issue.
Unfortunately at present we do not have facilities for SEN students, however staff are given advice to provide extra support to students with low abilities.
2: Boarding
- In your bedroom, there will be other students of similar age. However, they maybe of different backgrounds and from different places. It is important to get to know your room-mates; this is part of learning about our fellow Muslims.
- There will be a cupboard in the bedroom just for you; this is to contain all your personal belongings and other items.
- In your bedroom, there is a smoke and fire detector for your safety.
- No electrical equipment is allowed in the bedrooms without permission. Keeping bedrooms clean and tidy is the student's responsibility. The bedrooms are inspected regularly to ensure that they are clean. Above all, remember, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallama has stated that cleanliness is half of Imaan (faith).
3: Laundry
Every second weekend, all residential students are given permission to go home or to their relatives. You wash your clothes and bedding during these breaks. If you wish to wash your clothes whilst at Darul Uloom, there are washing machines available in the laundry room.
4: Uniform & Personal Appearance
Students must at all times wear clothes, confirming to Islamic Law (shariah) and adhere to the practices of our Holy Prophet (PBUH) with regards to personal appearance. This means that you must wear a cap and a white Jubba or Kafni (salwaar kameez).5: Promotion of Good Behaviour
The school recognises that good behaviour is essential for a well-ordered school in which individuals feel secure and teaching and learning may take place. Pupils must be aware of the current school rules and the principles behind them, the desirability of self-discipline and the duty to consider others' rights as well as their own.
- All students should obey the school rules introduced to them by means of tutor periods assemblies, and re-enforced during the course of the school day
- All students should follow the rules stated in the CLASSROOM RULES & LEARNING RULES displayed in all classrooms
- All students are responsible for their own actions and should exercise moral judgement

7: Discipline
The Darul Uloom recognises that misbehaviour takes place sometimes and will make every effort that students do not misbehave. Students will be advised about their attitude and behaviour in class and sometimes a department’s discipline procedure will need to be invoked. Students who misbehave will be made to sit in a discipline session.A system of disciplinary steps will be used. The purpose of the steps is to signal our concern to the pupil that his behaviour is unacceptable. The steps are as follows:
Step 1- Warning number 1
Step 2- Warning number 2
Step 3- Internal report for 2 weeks
Step 4- Meeting between Head teacher/General Manager and parents
Step 5- Meeting between Principal and parents
Step 6- Suspension
Step 7- Exclusion
The steps are not necessarily incremental; pupils may be placed onto Step 3 and above for example as a result of a very serious incident without having to have gone from Step 1 to Step 2. Similarly a pupil on Step 2 who responds very well may be taken off the Step system altogether.
8: Bullying
At Darul Uloom London we believe that any actions or words that are used for the express purpose of causing discomfort or harm to another person are bullying. We recognise that bullying can cause extreme emotional distress to its victims and that no member of the school community should bully any other. We regard all forms of bullying as being serious, but we recognise that bullying in the contexts outlined below require a particularly firm response:
- Bullying that takes place on a systematic basis towards one individual
- Bullying that is perpetrated on a systematic basis by one individual or one group.
- Bullying that is directed towards individuals who are particularly vulnerable
The students and other outcomes we expect are:
- Students who feel safe and secure from bullying in all aspects of their school life.
- Improved examination and other outcomes as a result of a safe and secure
environment that supports learning.
- Pupils who are confident to report bullying whether they, or others,
are the victims.
- Pupils who are confident that bullying will be dealt with seriously
by the school.
- Staff who are aware of the procedures to be followed in the event
of bullying.
- A school community that, as a whole, challenges bullying in all its forms.
